2.       MINUTES OF LAST MEETING/MATTERS ARISING

Projectors: Vincent has heard from one of the company's supplying these projectors..? We looked at the photos Vincent had taken. Problems arising as to who will manage it. It was suggested that there would be 2 teams.

 

Action: To have a presentation in the Parish and have feed back from Parishioners.

 

(Since the meeting last Thursday we had a reply from MIKE STATE ( English Heritage) stating that in his opinion it is unlikely that permission would be granted for the screens to be erected)

 

3.       CATECHETICAL PROGRAMMES

Confirmation: Mary, who has moved into No 2 Shelley Road is running this group. There are 24 in the group and they had a good meeting on Sunday. There is an Advent Service planned.

 

First Communion: Vincent reported that there are 81 children preparing this year. Next Parent's evening 24th November. Prayer Sponsors. It was suggested that we involve the housebound. Seventeen more names are needed. The aim is to have a prayer sponsor for each child.

 

RCIA: Instruction in the Faith; There are 7 members interested and the group is led by KATE Williamson.

 

4.       SOCIAL

Ray reported on the retreat held at St Cuthmans this year led by Father Charlie Jeffries. It was a very pleasant and prayerful day and we hope to organize another day next May.

 

Frances mentioned a retreat to be held at St Cuthmans on December 3rd led by Sister Mary

 

Youth Events - Activity day for year 6/7/8?????

 

Mary will also organize some event over the Christmas period.

 

A monthly film dub for years 11/12/13 will be held in No 2 Shelley Road Sunday evening. It may move to the Green room when it is refurbished.

 

Father Jerry reported that the audio/loop system will be installed in the hall during half  term

 

Other social events Mardi Gras on 21st February 2009 with salsa dancing and food

 

Teresa Hobden is organising a concert on Sunday 11th January 2009. There will be tea and cake and open to everyone

 

The Christmas Carol Concert is on 21st December 2008.

 

Frances suggested a film club held in the hall once a month.

 

Mary is also planning a Lent Event

 

Mary also suggested a meal followed by prayer in individual's houses.

 

Action: To put some ideas together in the New Year on the above

 

5.       AOB

 

Ray has very kindly offered to donate a 12-seater mini bus to the parish... There were a few issues on he high cost of insurance/named driver/where to keep it/petrol/permit? - Ray will get quotes for insurance etc.

 

Our Lady's Chapel; John presented his plan/ with suggestions for Our Lady's Chapel

 

One suggestion was to move the Blessed Sacrament to its original position and Our Lady’s Chapel to its original position

 

Action:  to look at the possibility of moving the Blessed Sacrament to the back wall of Sanctuary Your views welcome
