Children’s Liturgy
We run a Children’s Liturgy group at St Peter’s which deliver the Gospel message to children each week on a term time only basis during 10am Mass. We have a great team of dedicated volunteers, all CRB checked, who deliver the day’s gospel message to the various groups through stories, songs, pictures and actions. The children also produce a picture or some craft relating to the day’s theme. Children are welcome up to secondary school age, those of secondary school age are to be encouraged to stay in the Mass. If the ratio of adults to children are not sufficient, we will have to ask some parents to join the group at that point in the Mass before the children go out. If parents do not come forward, then the liturgy will not be able to take place.
The children lead out to join their groups once the mass has begun. They then return during the offertory where they have the opportunity to process back into the church and show their work as part of the offertory procession. The location is the Church Hall. Parents are invited to join their children in the Pre-School Liturgy; the older children go unaccompanied.
If you are interested in joining our rota to help deliver the liturgy please get in touch! You are also welcome to come along to some sessions to see what we do. Materials, information and support are provided and volunteers are usually asked to run just one or two sessions each term.
